Student Leadership

Caleb Hausman, Student President

I’m a senior from Minneapolis, Minnesota studying Public Policy, with a focus in Education Policy. I am currently the President of Vanderbilt Hillel, but have been involved in all parts of Hillel life in the past, including the Programming Board, the Religious Life Council, Dores for Israel, and smoking briskets for every Hillel tailgate. I am so thankful for the amazing sense of community I feel at Hillel and I hope to make Hillel a place where even more students feel even more at home during my year as President.

Outside of Hillel, I’m also the Secretary of Vanderbilt SEED (Students Engaging in Education Dialogue), a member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, and a tutor with Vanderbilt TAP (The Afterschool Program). When I’m not spending time with these great organizations, I love exploring all that Nashville’s food, music, and film scenes have to offer!

Andrea Liberman, VP of Membership

Hi! My name is Andrea Liberman and I’m a sophomore from Centerville, Ohio, majoring in Cognitive Studies with a minor in Corporate Strategy. I am the Vice President of Membership and Engagement and love working with the first years on campus! Last semester, I Co-Chaired the Big/Little FYSH (First Year Students of Hillel) program that matches first years with upperclassmen mentors. I loved having an impact on students’ first impression of Vanderbilt and Hillel, and I also love helping them develop leadership abilities through the FYSH Board. Outside of Hillel, I am involved in Women in Business, Dance Marathon, and Kappa Delta sorority.

Rachel Gilfarb, VP of Religious Life

Hi! My name is Rachel Gilfarb and I am the VP of Religious Life at Hillel. I’m from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and am studying neuroscience and gender studies here at Vanderbilt. Along with Hillel, I am involved in Greek Life on campus, two dance troupes, neuroscience research, and an eating club. My biggest passions are reading, traveling, and talking to people. I love Hillel because it is my home away from home and a place for everyone to be themselves in a welcoming environment. I look forward to a great year!

Matthew Deutch, VP of Israel Affairs

Hi! My name is Matthew Deutch and I am the President of ‘Dores for Israel. I’m from Miami, Florida and am majoring in Human and Organizational Development with minors in Corporate Strategy and Financial Economics. Along with Hillel, I am involved with Relay for Life, Sigma Nu fraternity, and Habitat for Humanity. I am very excited to be involved with Hillel and look forward to spreading Jewish culture across Vanderbilt’s campus!

Hannah Peikes, VP of Communications

My name is Hannah Peikes and I am co-secretary of Hillel with Mardi Caminer. I am from Westchester, NY and am a Special Education and Child Development double major. At Hillel I have been involved in RLC, Bagel Betches and Challah for Hunger. Outside of Hillel, I am a research assistant at the Vanderbilt Early Development Lab, a member of AOII, a Kaplan Student Brand Ambassador and an intern for Realabilities by Nava Silton.

Spencer Kallor, Treasurer

Hey! My name is Spencer Kallor and I am the Treasurer of Vanderbilt Hillel. I’m from Parkland, Florida (Between Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale) and I’m majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Engineering Management. Aside from being Treasurer, I also captain the Hillel Basketball team, The He-Bros, and help smoke brisket for special events with Caleb. Outside Hillel, I am involved as a tour guide and as an IFC house manager. My biggest passions are sports and music, so you’ll find me playing tennis, basketball, guitar, or DJ-ing in most of my free time. I love Hillel because it reminds me of the community I had in my congregation NFTY youth group back home. I hope you all find the same joy in Hillel as I have, and continue to find in the future.
